HFC Response to the Toronto Sun Column

September 3, 2024

Hands for Charity (HFC) categorically rejects the allegations made against our organization in the recent article published by the Toronto Sun, titled “Ottawa turns a blind eye to questionable pro-Palestinian charities,” authored by Warren Kinsella.

The article contains false claims and misinformation to wrongly link HFC to designated organizations and relies on irresponsible journalistic tactics to mislead readers. The article unfairly attacks our charity and the critical humanitarian work we do with the overall intent to discredit and harm organizations supporting victims of the genocide in Gaza.

The attempt to link support for hospitals in Gaza, as well as aid for orphans and families in need, to funding terrorism is deeply troubling. The article ignores the brutal realities of the ongoing genocide in Gaza, where over 40,000 Palestinians have been killed. The devastating healthcare crisis has left more than 90,000 injured, many of them women and children, without the medical aid they need, leading to countless preventable deaths. Additionally, at least 625,000 children are out of school because Gaza’s education infrastructure has been destroyed, leaving no safe place to learn. More than 20,000 newly orphaned children also desperately need support.

At HFC, we are committed to our mission to help people in need by providing clean water, food, shelter, healthcare, and education. We uphold the highest standards of compliance with Canadian laws and regulations.

At this time we are looking into all legal options to address this issue. We thank our supporters for standing with us during this challenging time.
