The Essence of Udhiyah: Your Comprehensive Guide to Qurban with Hands for Charity

The Essence of Udhiyah: Your Comprehensive Guide to Qurban with Hands for Charity

دليلك الشامل للأضحية 2026

Why Do We Perform Udhiyah?

The act of Udhiyah is not just about distributing meat; it is a profound revival of the Sunnah of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and a means of drawing closer to Allah on the Day of Sacrifice.

“It is neither their meat nor their blood that reaches Allah, but it is piety from you that reaches Him.” (22:37)

{لَن يَنَالَ اللَّهَ لُحُومُهَا وَلَا دِمَاؤُهَا وَلَٰكِن يَنَالُهُ التَّقْوَىٰ مِنكُمْ}

It is a spiritual journey that begins with a sincere intention and ends with bringing life-saving joy to the heart of a human being in need through your Qurban.

I. The Fiqh of Udhiyah: What You Need to Know

To ensure your sacrifice is valid and accepted, we at Hands for Charity strictly adhere to these Sharia requirements for every Udhiyah:

  • Intention (Niyyah): The act must be performed solely for the sake of Allah.
  • Type of Livestock: Camel, cattle, sheep, or goat.
  • The Proper Age: Camels: 5 years, cattle: 2 years, goats: 1 year, sheep: 6 months.
  • Health & Physical State: The animal must be healthy. Animals that are blind, diseased, visibly lame, or emaciated are not permitted for Udhiyah.
  • Timing: The slaughtering must take place after the Eid prayer and must end before sunset on the 13th day of Dhu al-Hijjah.

II. How is the Udhiyah Distributed?

Following the Prophetic Sunnah, the Rule of Thirds is recommended:

  • One-third for you and your household: To celebrate and show gratitude.
  • One-third for gifts: To strengthen bonds with relatives and friends.
  • One-third for the poor and needy: The core humanitarian purpose of Udhiyah

Note: In cases of severe crisis, it is encouraged to dedicate the entire sacrifice to those in desperate need to maximize the impact.

III. Your Global Impact: Where Does Your Udhiyah Go?

At Hands for Charity, we act as your bridge to the most vulnerable regions, ensuring your Qurban reaches those who need it most across the globe.

Palestine

  • Gaza: Supporting displaced families in the hardest-to-reach areas with urgent food relief.
  • Alquds & The West Bank: Strengthening the steadfastness of families in villages and camps.

Yemen & Lebanon

  • Yemen: Feeding exhausted hearts in conflict zones where hunger is a daily battle.
  • Lebanon: Standing by families facing economic collapse and bringing Eid joy to their tables.

  • Niger & Chad: Reaching remote villages where meat is a rare luxury.
  • Sudan: Providing relief to families displaced by conflict.
